A grant may fund a large share of your solar project. Most business owners never find out.

The USDA Rural Energy for America Program funds renewable energy projects for eligible rural small businesses and agricultural producers. We have taken commercial customers through it before, and we will tell you honestly, for free, whether your business is likely to qualify.

The funding question

The grant argument, on a page of its own.

On your current site the word REAP appears six times, and all of it is buried in a news section. This is the same material, on a page a business owner can actually find.

What REAP is

A USDA programme that funds renewable energy for eligible rural small businesses and agricultural producers. [Current programme terms to be confirmed before publication.]

Whether you qualify

Eligibility turns on location, business type and project. We will give you an honest read before you spend anything.

We have done it before

We have taken commercial customers through the process. [Named examples to be supplied by Harmony.]

What we will not tell you

We are not going to promise a grant, a percentage or a timescale. Funding decisions are not ours to make and the programme has been unpredictable. What we will do is tell you straight whether it is worth applying.

Commercial solar

The buildings where the numbers work best.

Premises using most of their power during daylight, which is most working businesses.

Farms & agriculture

  • Barns, packhouses, equipment sheds
  • Irrigation and cold storage loads
  • The business type REAP was designed for

Light industrial

  • Manufacturing and warehousing
  • Roof or ground mount
  • Phased so production continues

Commercial premises

  • Retail, hospitality, offices
  • Solar PV and solar hot water
  • Designed in-house, nothing subcontracted
How it runs

Four steps, and the first one is free.

1

The funding question first

Before anything is designed, we tell you whether funding is realistic. It changes everything after it.

2

Site assessment

Roof or ground, shading, your actual usage profile, and what the building will carry.

3

Design and proposal

Designed in-house by NABCEP certified installers, with the numbers set out plainly.

4

Installation

One point of contact from survey to commissioning. Nothing handed to a sales outfit.

Why us

Designed in-house. Nothing handed to a sales outfit.

A lot of what gets sold in this market is sold by one company and fitted by another. That is how people end up with an array on a roof that should not have carried one.

How we work

  • NABCEP certified installers, in-house
  • Design and installation by the same people
  • One point of contact from survey to commissioning
  • We service what we install, and systems we did not
  • Prior experience taking commercial customers through funding

What we will not do

  • Promise a grant, a percentage or a date
  • Quote a system before seeing the building
  • Put panels on a roof that needs replacing first
  • Hand you to a subcontractor after the sale

If the roof is near the end of its life, we will say so

It is the most expensive mistake in this industry and it is usually made by somebody who will not be around in five years when it matters. We would rather lose the job than be the reason you pay to take an array off again.

Questions

The things people ask before they call.

Will the grant definitely cover part of it?

No, and anybody telling you otherwise is guessing. Eligibility depends on your location, business type and project, and funding decisions are not ours to make. We will tell you honestly whether it is worth applying, for free, before you spend anything. [Current programme terms to be confirmed before publication.]

How long does a commercial install take?

[To be supplied by Harmony - typical timescale from survey to commissioning.]

Do you work on buildings we lease rather than own?

Often yes, but it depends on the lease and the landlord. Worth a short conversation before anything is designed.

What happens if my roof is not suitable?

We will tell you. Sometimes the answer is that the roof needs doing first, and that is a cheaper conversation now than in five years.

Do you do solar hot water as well as PV?

Yes. Both are designed in-house.

How far do you travel?

New Hampshire, Massachusetts and southern Maine. Tell us where you are and we will say straight away rather than waste your time.

Where we work

Three states.

New HampshireMaineMassachusetts

Area list is a draft for discussion. Confirm the actual coverage before anything goes live.

This is Mock-up 1

The $1,500 option.

Contactable, measured, and the grant argument on a page of its own. The $2,500 version adds the orphan systems, the roof refits and the inverter service, which is the work that needs no advertising spend.
